Reports suggest that the Apple iPad is set to dominate the tablet market right until 2016, making its longevity something of amazement.

Though demand for tablets has increased right across all spectrums of the world, from the boardroom to the corporate world, the device is and will be number one for a long time according to reports from Forrester research. Great news for those who enjoy iPad casino games.

Tablets are set to grow to 375m devices in 2016 alone, up from 56m sold last year, which  will mean a projected number of 760m tablets.

Apple’s iPad still is half of these tablets, even with Android and Windows on the horizon and is still expected to be 53% in 2016. In fact the report suggests that the Amazon Kindle Fire will be the only device to establish itself as a viable alternative in the market as Google keeps failing.

The report also shows that one third of tablets will be shipped to business in 2016, showing their leap from a position as a periphery device to a more mainstream use. This will also see Apple eat away at the dominance of Microsoft in the business computer world.

This will lead to a fall below 50 per cent for Microsoft in the business world, mainly due to a change resulting due to familiarity with the new Apple devices. Currently about 8% of IT workers use the Apple brand for work.

Accordcing to the report , about 9% of online adults in the United States report owning an iPad, and 24% of global information workers are taking their tablets to work. About 27% of companies in North America and Europe support the iPad for at least some of their employees.

HTC’s new  One X is on paper a bit of a monster with a quad core 1.5GHz processor, 4.7 inch screen and enough power to send it to the moon. However, specs never made a phone, so is it any good?

Well, though large it’s only 130g – perfect for a bout of mobile roulette. It’s large screen is excellent and with a 1280x720p screen looks great in both indoor and outdoor conditions. The body of the device is also commendable and is well built from the unibody design we come to expect from HTC.

HTC has improved a number of specs on this over the previous Sensation model and you’re looking at a behemoth of a phone in power terms. It’s capable of all sorts of video editing and video watching and comes with a 8mp camera as well as Beats Audio for some bass ridden music.

HTC has added a new Sense overlay on top of Android ICS 4.0 and it looks and feels smooth and is also well tweaked, with little of Android left in its original form. This of course easily does all that’s necessary, thanks to the chip and gaming is a fine feat on the phone and we can’t wait to see what developers throw at this more than capable machine.

One downside of all this power and ability is the battery life, which in truth won’t last you a full day with any use. This is one of the things we hoped Tegra 3 would improve, but with the large display and other power draining issues – no such look.

However, if you’re looking for a phone to replace, or to play mobile casino games and fancy a change from iOS this is the one.

Is the Lenovo YogaPad the future of the PC world? Well the device which was showcased at CES and will be at the Gadget Show next week is different, we’ll give it that.

This little UltraBook resembling device with an amazing rear hinge is one of the first Windows 8 ready devices and can be used as a laptop or tablet, and also comes with plenty of power via an Intel i7 processor.

The device is one of the first of the many touch screen laptops we’re set to see in the near future, but can be bent right around, so as the screen’s back touches that of the back of the keyboard to create a tablet like device.

As a laptop it meets all the UltraBook criteria and is under 20mm in width and 1.4kg in weight, making it ultra portable, ultra powerful and also is ultra attractive. Lenovo will be also delighted to be among the first to showcase the gadget wide Windows 8 which can be used on PC, Tablet, or phone and is completely compatible across all three, using the exact same operating system.

For those used to iPad casino gaming, or mobile slots on a touch screen, this will bring a new dimension to the way they use their PC as it now offers tablet like support. Of course Windows will be hoping for the development of more apps for their operating system to bring it right up there with the likes of Apple and Google who offer hundreds of thousands of apps for their systems.

Stories of the warmer tablet hit the net just after the device’s release, with many stating it is about a third warmer than the iPad 2.

However, after much testing across the web, consensus is that though the device is notably warmer it is not too hot. Tests by CNET, of the iPad undergoing gaming and heavy streaming at full brightness show the iPad reached around 37 degrees Celsius after about 45 minutes. Compared to a Dell Inspriron this is relatively cool, as the small laptop manages to hit the 45-degree mark after 15 minutes of gaming.

For the iPad, this is good news and means it’s about as warm as your own body temperature and so not uncomfortable to hold, even if noticeable to the touch when compared to the previous version of the tablet.

Now in many hands, the iPad 3 has been the most eagerly awaited device of this year so far, so what are it’s great features?

Retina Screen

With a display that’s got over 1m pixels more than a HD TV the new iPad 3′s retina display is something to astound. Reports are that it’s screen offers an experience second to none – perfect for iPad casino games so. Some have even gone as far as to call it a super bright newspaper screen.

A5X

Though we don’t have 4G as of yet, when it comes the iPad is well equipped for the super fast Internet. So, get ready for some super fast gaming and increased online fun.

RIM’s revenues don’t look too healthy again according to two financial analysts who have downgraded estimates again, on the failing company’s chances.

The company will release its results at the end of March but rumours suggest a downward revision of figures. It’s expected the number of handsets fell nearly 2m units short of the projected 12m units RIM had hoped to push at Christmas. Forecasts for the first quarter were also cut by traders from $4.6 – $4.9Bn to a poor $4.2Bn.

Profit forecasts are also expected to fall from 82c a share to 69c a share. Another analyst Stern Agee’s Shaw Wu, claimed his own supply chain information suggested RIM was still losing out to Android and iPhone. Wu calculates a shipment of 11.3m down from a former projection of 11.9m and revenues down for m 95c to 86c a share.

All of this isn’t a great projection for the company who has started losing US Govt contracts to Apple and a number of banks have also began to test Apple’s iPhone.

The next couple of quarters are expected to be the big test for the Canadian company and may see RIM fade into obscurity just as Palm did. If Apple releases a new model and Window’s 8 for phone arrives, analyst’s believe RIM, which isn’t releasing a new OS until the end of the year is in dire straits.

The company has failed to keep up with Apple and Android in the last few years and its devices have been constantly overshadowed by faster, smarter phones that maybe are maybe a little better for iPad Casino games – you decide?

After all sorts of goings on for months, it seems that China will allow the sale of iPads’ under their Apple endowed name.

Chinese company ProView who owns the right to the iPad name and wanted over £4Bn to transfer it to Apple. After a 3 year legal wrangle courts have rejected the Chinese company’s injunction plea, which may stop Chinese folk playing ipad casino games.

The iPad has come under all sorts of speculation in China in recent months, and had been taken off China’s Amazon raising suspicions of the ProView case. However, a court in Pudong, China made a final decision on the Apple ‘trademark case’.

Proview bought the rights to the name iPad in China and surrounding areas in 2000. However, Apple bought the rights to the name worldwide later from ProView’s Taiwan office. ProView in China however has claimed that the Taiwan branch had no authority to sell the name and so still owned the rights to it. Apple claimed they have the Shenzhen branch’s signatures on the paperwork and has won the case. Should the case be appealed, it may once again be hard to buy an iPad in China.

It also seems that Proview won’t take the ruling lying down and have brought a courtcase to Apple’s home turf in California. Claiming the company purchased the iPad trade mark deceptively. What effect this will have remains to be seen.

This case is just one of many the Cupertino firm has fought, or is fighting, and currently has a number of prominent patent cases with Google, Motorola, HTC and a string of others.

Google seems to be slowly and surely taking over the world, so what should we expect from the gang in 2012?

Tablet

It looks like we should certainly be looking towards a Google tablet in the next year. Certain communications have said we should expect a high quality tablet something possibly along similar lines to the company’s Nexus brand of phones. This would possibly all come into line with Android 4.0 and mean something more exciting than the current Motorola Xoom, or Samsung Tablet. Perfect for mobile slots. 

Chromebooks

Expect the coming of Cloud based computing in 2012. We should see the popularity of the company’s Chromebooks rapidly increase in the coming year. This should see faster loading times, cloud based software and a whole change in the way we interact with computers – once you have an Internet connection that is.

Google + Page Admin

We’ll see third party developers get to grips with Google + pages this year allowing them to do unique things Facebook cant. We’ll see things such as tighter integration of Google Apps, large Hangouts and a number of other innovations that may catapult Google+ into the mainstream.

Android

We’ll see Android not only become the majority OS for phones, but notably so. Expect to see 60 per cent of all smart phones sold to be of the Android variety. This will mean a more robust Android until Amazon releases a phone on Android, with no Google services that is.

Google TV

Expect to see a number of affordable Google TVs on sale and more market penetration. We’re predicting €99 for the Google boxes when they eventually arrive. These may see uniue content through apps and the fact Google owns YouTube garners some advantage.

More than 155,000 people signed a petition looking for Apple to do more about the state of its Chinese workers employment condions and are calling for ‘ethical# iPhones.

Change.org has began the campaign following reports of poor working conditions in factories in China. There have been over 43,000 signatures stating that the iPhone 5 should be made ethically.

Apple has acknowledged the demands and said that it cared about every worker in its supply chain. Calls have been made for the world famous company to ‘release a worker protection strategy for new product releases’, claiming that the injuries in these areas increase when staff have more to do and are under more pressure.

Change.org has also requested that the results from the Fair Labor Association’s reports should be published, allowing all identified violations to be made clear.

The petitions come after a scathing New York Times article into the conditions at the Chinese plants. The paper report claimed that Apple would only have to ask for changes to be made before they were brought about such is its power.

Problems with Apple’s overseas working conditions became common talk about two years ago after a number of workers who aided production of components for Apple phones were injured after being subjected to a poison gas.

As well as this, four workers were killed in two separate explosions last year, as well as reports that 18 workers have tried to commit suicide in the Foxconn plant where Apple goods are made.

Apple tends to get the most press due to the profits it makes and though it has got alot of negative feedback, it hasn’t stopped workers applying for jobs at its overseas plants. Recent reports in China show that a recruitment drive by Foxconn for an additional 100,000 workers say long queues of young job seekers queue outside its plants.

Though Kodak went bankrupt during the week, things aren’t all bad for pioneers in the field of technology.

Nokia has seen estimates suggest it sold 1.3m Lumia Phones since their release in the last quarter of 2011. This figure was gotten by Bloomberg, who compared a 23 experts and analysts’ predictions and averaged them.

With estimates ranging from between 800,000 to 2m units sold, the Lumia has been the Finnish company’s best performer for a long time. The Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 were considered by many as the nail in the Nokia coffin before their release, with many questioning the companies movement to a Windows operating system only as a fatal issue. However, considering the phones have pushed over the million mark in the space of slightly over two months release and Nokia will probably be quite happy.

Such a move would put Nokia back to the fore of the mobile phone field, but make investors in both Windows 7 and Nokia, less anxious. Of course the Nokia Lumia and its 3.7 inch screen make a great companion for mobile slots.

Kodak, on the other hand has had to file for bankruptcy, after months and months of speculation. The company, which invented the digital camera, is filed for Bankruptcy protection having failed to sell its patents, valued at $2Billion.
